Jamia Diniyat Deoband

Jamia Dinyat Global School of Islamic Studies

"He has taught you that which [heretofore] you knew not " كَمَا عَلَّمَكُم مَّا لَمْ تَكُونُواْ تَعْلَمُونَ

Islam is a religion that is based upon knowledge, for it is ultimately knowledge of the Oneness of Allah SWT, combined with faith and total commitment to Him, which makes us successful in this world and in the hereafter. The text of the Quran is full with verses inviting us to use our intellect, to ponder, to think and to know, for the goal of human life is to discover the Truth, which is none other than worshipping Allah SWT in His Oneness. The Hadith literature is also full of references to the importance of knowledge. Such sayings of the Prophet as "Seek knowledge even in China ", "Seek knowledge from the cradle to the grave, " and “Verily the men of knowledge are the inheritors of the prophets " have echoed throughout the history of Islam and inspired Muslims to seek knowledge wherever it might be found. This is probably why Allah SWT chose to start the revelation of Quran from the word ” IQRA ” ( Read)

This is exactly why we at Jamia Dinyat feel that knowledge of our Deen, the Quran and Hadith in its true context, and authenticity is mandatory upon all Muslims. Our family environment will only become Islamic if both, the young and the adults of the family will assume their responsibility to seek the knowledge of our Deen and practice it. Traditions warped around Islam only create confusions, Bidat, and conflicts among the Ummah. We at Jamia Dinyat also believe that despite our great concerns for the future generations, no significant changes can be expected until the adults of the Muslim family would not educate themselves through an authentic source.

Until recently in the Islamic history, Muslims had abundance of Madaris and Maktabs in the neighborhoods where we grew up, or at least elders in the family who taught us the basic knowledge of our Deen. It came to us almost without efforts, and that is probably why we took it for granted. But time has changed since. Today leave alone the Non-Muslim societies, even Muslims societies offer no proper solution to our Islamic Educational , Especially for college going and working adults. Lack of Islamic institutions, segregation of Islamic and worldly Educational , No child hood Islamic training, Priority to school Educational , workloads and busy schedules, impact of Non-Muslim culture, negative media or simply ignorance, the fact is that no excuse could ever justify our ignorance to Islam. Its knowledge and practice is the essence of our Deen and the only source of our pride and dignity.

In the light of above limitations and constraints, under the guidance of prominent Ulema and academicians from different part of the world, Jamia Dinyat offers Correspondence and Internet based Islamic Educational courses for Muslim adults and young adults that are systematic, comprehensive, authentic, affordable, and accommodating to your regular work or Educational activities. These courses are currently offered in English, Urdu, and Hindi starting from the basics to advance levels, based upon the “ Darse Nizami ’ (Educational system of Madaris)

The courses are systematically developed by a team of Ulema and academicians in order to achieve the above goals.

Our History

“Obtaining Ilm (Knowledge of Deen) is Farz (Mandatory) upon all Muslim men and women ” (TALABUL ILMI FAREEZATUN ALA KULLI MUSLIMIN)

“Madaris have attracted only less than 1% of the Muslim Population, which means that the 99% of the Muslims Ummah were left out from obtaining the authentic basic Ilm (Knowledge) of our Deen. As Ulema and teachers of Darul Uloom Deoband what solution do we offer to the basic Islamic Educational of this 99% of the Muslim Ummah ”?
This was a concern and a question that Moulana Mohammad Salim Qasmi, the current Rector of Darul Uloom Deoband (Waqf) and the founder of Jamia Dinyat Deoband presented in a meeting of Ulema back in early 1960s. He did not only raise the question, but he also presented the solution to the problem through establishing Jamia Dinyat (Urdu) an Institute of Islamic Educational through correspondence. With the blessings of Allah SWT and the Duaas of the Akabirins within five years of hard work and dedication he developed a systematic, easy to follow and yet a comprehensive course of Islamic Educational that covered all the subjects taught in the Madaris but simplified for easy comprehension.

Founded in 1966:
Exactly 100 yeas after the foundation of Darul Uloom Deoband, the same family again laid foundation of another global institution of Islamic Educational through correspondence.

JAMIA DINYAT INTO THE 21ST CENTURY

Time, trends, thoughts, lifestyle and values all have changed in last four decades. Today we live in a very different society. The life on the fast track has taken us farther than ever from our moral and Islamic teachings. Our children are growing on non-Islamic value system and we are watching it still. We are eager to get Islamic Educational but find no time for it. Our society in general and our children in particular are demanding answers of many new issues faced by the modern Islamic Ummah but we stand speechless simply because we lack the basic knowledge of our Deen. On the other hand Islam is no more a religion of east. Today it equally belongs to west. Therefore we must think, plan and act global if we truly want to educate the Muslim Ummah.

To face these great challenges of the modern times Jamia Dinyat has been working hard for the last two years. A summary of its future approach is given below.
  • Courses have been prepared in English and Hindi languages by a team of Ulama, academicians and IT specialists.
  • Courses will be taught through video lectures on DVD, textbooks, and workbooks.
  • A large website is being developed which will has an e-Library for the reference study material, chat rooms and online help.
  • Centers are being established in the United States, United Kingdom, West Indies, Australia and Japan
  • Courses are self-explanatory, easy to comprehend and systematically developed to use the modern technology in order to create a thorough understanding of Deen in a short period of time.

Distinctions Of Jamia Dinyat Courses:

  • Designed for adults and young adults: Alhamdulillah today there are plenty of Islamic Educational Projects in progress for the children. From the Sunday school, Private tuitions, Maktabs and Madaris to full time regular schools where Dini Taleem is mandatory all are available. However, a program for a systematic, authentic, convenient affordable and comprehensive adult Islamic Educational is very much neglected. There is a great thirst among Muslim adults men and women to achieve a certain level of Islamic Educational through which they could face and deal with the modern challenges and changes.
  • Internet based Educational : Since the biggest constraint for working adult's learning is time, Jamia Dinyat has decided to launch its courses in English, Urdu and Hindi through Internet and correspondence system (where Internet is not available). Electronic admission, e-exams, student chat rooms, online help from Ulema and video lectures by renowned Ulema from different part of the world are part of large website being developed along with a custom made software for Jamia Dinyat on the engine of IIMIS (Integrated Institute Management Information System)
  • Authenticity of Jamia ’s courses. Designed by Ulema of Darul Uloom Deoband under the supervision of Moulana Mohammad Salim Qasmi Sb.
  • Prepared by Academic council of Jamia Dinyat consisting of Ulama, Academicians and IT consultants

  • Practical knowledge for today ’s world: The expected outcome of the advance courses is that not only the student will create a profound and thorough knowledge of Deen but also they will be able to apply their knowledge in their daily life. They should posses ’  sufficient knowledge to create a Deeni environment in their homes and proudly co-exist in Muslim or Non- Muslim societies.
  • Educational for Sisters in Veils and Hijab. Educational of Muslim women has been a big issue in front of our Muslim educators and Akabirins. Some of the biggest problems in establishing such institutions for sisters are (1) proper locations where their security and privacy could be assured, (2) hiring female staff specially Aalimas for teachings and administering the institution
  • For many sisters Jamia Dinyat was probably the only opportunity to have educated themselves in Authentic Islamic Studies without ever leaving their homes. Jamia Dinyat through its correspondence courses has been successfully resolving this problem in a very simple manner.
  • Educational for all ages: The set up of Madaris and Maktabs either in India or overseas is not normally designed for the adults. However Jamia Dinyat has been a dream come true for many who realized the importance of Islamic Educational late in their life. We invite people of all ages, backgrounds and culture to come and participate in this great Fariza (Obligation)
  • Educational in remote cities and countries: There are many cities, and countries where there is no Aalim, Madrasa , Maktab or even a Masjid However, to study in Jamia Dinyat all they need is the post office. As long as they could receive post mail in that city Jamia Dinyat will teach them.
